University of Wisconsin - Green Bay The mission statement of our university states, "UW- Green Bay provides an interdisciplinary, problem-focused educational experience that prepares students to think critically and address complex issues in a multicultural and evolving world. The University enriches the quality of life for students and the community by embracing the educational value of diversity, promoting environmental sustainability, encouraging engaged citizenship, and serving as an intellectual, cultural and economic resource." Recently, the campus achieved Silver accreditation under the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education's Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS) program, a benchmark tool for institutions of higher education to evaluate their sustainability efforts in all areas of campus life, curriculum and operations.
UW - Green Bay has excellent faculty that deliver outstanding instruction in natural and applied sciences, environmental studies and environmental policy, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in a number of programs which prepare students for environmental leadership positions. Through the Environmental Management and Business Institute (EMBI), which was formed in 2008, students can receive a Certificate in Environmental Sustainability and Management. As part of the certificate program, students are required to complete an internship on campus or at area businesses and work on practical, real-world problems of integrating sustainability into business operations. A focus on the environment and sustainability efforts will remain a core strength of UW - Green Bay in both educational opportunities for students and operational efforts to improve sustainability across our campus community.
