All around the LTC campus you'll see signs of our commitment to sustainability.
There are four wind turbines along the western edges of our campus, solar installations atop many of our buildings and renewable energy training equipment installed at accessible levels for targeted student training. Inside our buildings we're making sure sustainability is part of all career programs, including focused degrees in green industries.
For over three years, LTC's Wind Energy Technician program has trained hundreds of workers for the wind industry. These highly skilled technicians keep the wind turbines across the U.S. operating at maximum output. In the fall of 2011, LTC began a Horticulture Program with a heavy emphasis on sustainable practices and growing foods for local markets. And this spring LTC will launch its new Culinary Program sharing the emphasis of sustainable practices and incorporating locally grown food.
Additionally, LTC partners with local organizations in hosting numerous events for business and the community to highlight ways to bring sustainable practices into our work and home lives and "do" sustainability every day.
Since 2010 the LTC Committee on Sustainable Solutions has been working to develop a culture of sustainability among employees and students on campus, and to reduce energy consumption through education, conservation and energy management.
Whether we're "doing sustainability" ourselves or making sure the workforce is ready to help live more sustainable, we're committed to growing green jobs and leaving less of an impact on the environment.
