Goals of the NEW ERA Libraries
The NEW ERA Libraries group was formed on March 28, 2002 to:
- Maintain and enhance library services in Northeast Wisconsin to students, faculty, staff and community in a budgetary context where the need for cost sharing and cost cutting are important.
- Determine areas where current cooperative agreements should be made better known to the constituents that the libraries serve.
- Determine areas where current cooperative agreements can be enhanced.
- Determine areas of need where new forms of collaboration are important.
Projects of the NEW ERA Libraries
Accomplished
- Established a list serve for library directors of the NEW ERA libraries to facilitate discussion and cooperation.
- Created a web presence to market existing services available to the constituents of NEW ERA libraries and also share best library practices for staff.
In Progress
- Explore the enhancement of online reference services by participating in a global reference cooperative that will provide the ability to refer email reference questions to libraries across the world and also provide limited "live" chat reference services.
- Coordinate training on the use of the "MarcoPolo" web site that provides high quality educational materials for K -12 teaching.
