The Fox River Valley Regional Economic Summit that was held in late 2000 identified educational collaboration as a top priority among educational institutions within this region. A quote from the report reads, "Educational institutions must reduce barriers that limit access...we must move toward a seamless educational institution that provides the education and training that is needed at the time it is needed." The formation of the Northeast Wisconsin Educational Resource Alliance (NEW ERA) is a direct result of this economic summit.
